On January 24, 2008, at Galveston's City Council Meeting, Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas proclaimed February 2, 2008, as "Z Krewe Day" in Galveston. Queen Zanie XIV Sandy Taylor was on hand to accept the proclamation on behalf of the Krewe.
Following the acceptance of the proclamation, Krewe members hoisted the colors and announced to the City Council to "prepare to be beaded!" Z Krewe members then presented Council members with the official Krewe medallion and signed Krewe poster for Mardi Gras 2008.
