Z Krewe Processional 2008
On February 2, 2008, the second Saturday of the Mardi Gras season, festivities were kicked off by Z Krewe with their annual processional.
Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas read the Z Krewe Day Proclamation from the Trumpets Balcony, and the Processional commenced.
The annual Zanie Processional is held through the Historic Strand District along Mechanic Street from 25th to 20th and back up the Strand. Hundreds of Zanies threw their "best beads" to the crowds. The parade featured bands, military units and zanie revelers from other krewes and Mardi Gras organizations.
The Processional was led by Big Daddy and Big Momma, followed by King Zanie XIV Allen Taylor, Z Krewe's Royal Zoots, and several of the Royal Zaftigs. At the Trumpets Building, the Processional came to a halt, Queen Zanie XIV Sandy Taylor and other Royal Zaftigs descended from the Trumpets balcony to the street, where they joined the King and his Zoots for a champagne toast to the Krewe and the crowd!

And after a successful Processional, even a pirate needs a nap to rest up for that night's Zestival!
