Pancake Day 2008

One of Z Krewe's long-standing traditions on Fat Tuesday is our Pancake Day breakfast, an event held each year on the day of Mardi Gras, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.

On Fat Tuesday, the zanie members of Z Krewe carry on a worldwide Mardi Gras tradition born in 1445 in Olney, Buckinghamshire, England, by cooking up a breakfast of pancakes and sausage for the students, parents, and teachers of the Galveston Catholic School.  It is an event that gets more and more Zanies out of bed each year.  They discover that getting up before dawn to mix, pour, cook, and clean up is just the beginning of the festivities and fun on the final day of the Mardi Gras season.  Plus, all the food not eaten is donated to a local charity!

And Z Krewe Royalty is present to serve as greeters, and to pass out beads to all Pancake Day attendees.
