Z Krewe Geocache:
The Cache of the Pirate King!
What's a pirate without a hidden treasure (besides poor and grumpy)? We're not sure, but we don't want to find out!
Because this is Z Krewe's Year of the Pirate, we figured: what better way to help celebrate than a treasure hunt on a real pirate’s island! Arr!
Back between 1817 and 1820, Privateer Jean Lafitte settled on this Island, which he dubbed Campeache. He left in the early 1820's, burning his residence to the ground. However, it be rumored that he left behind some treasure hidden on this Island, to be retrieved later.
Jean Lafitte's treasure -- if it existed -- has never been found. However, this one can be! We have hidden a Geocache right here on Galveston Island, near Texas, the Island home of Z Krewe. It be a traditional cache filled with lots of “piratey” booty, including (initially): small treasure chests with keys (maybe containing treasure of their own!), an assortment of Mardi Gras beads and dubloons, a slightly-used pirate’s ear ring, and Pirate King Travel Bug. There is even a special "first to find" prize!
Oh, by the way, abandon hope all ye who enter, and mind the “Beware of Snakes” sign. (Actually, just be sure to close the gate, so they don’t all get out.)
Check out Pirate King Travel Bug’s page for more information on his mission, and enjoy the cache! And if you’re in Galveston during Mardi Gras, come by and check out Z Krewe!
